Chuckwalla Lizard

Chuckwalla lizards inhabit the shores of Lake Powell and the Page AZ region. These hardy desert lizards call the rocky shores near Lake Powell and the Page Arizona area home. In this video, we dive into the unique behaviors of these resilient reptiles, which thrive in the harsh conditions of the Desert Southwest. Chuckwallas use their rocky habitat for shelter and protection by squeezing into narrow crevices and blowing their balloon like bellies up in order to wedge themselves in the rocky crack to escape predators. Their latin name means “flat lizard” which is very appropriate. A fun fact about Chuckwallas is that their diet mainly consists of vegetation like leaves, flowers, and fruits. #Chuckwalla, #lakepowell , #lizard #canyoncountryoutdoors #pageaz #pagearizona #glencanyonnationalrecreationarea #glencanyon #reptiles
