GUIDED ROCK CLIMBING

Buckskin Gulch Rock Climbing

Located in Southern Utah, just up the wash from the world-famous Buckskin Gulch slot canyon, this limestone sport climbing crag offers a unique and exciting experience. The climbing here is primarily on vertical rock with occasional bulbous overhangs, featuring moderate routes that emphasize balance over strength. The rock is rich in fossils and decorated with striking round chert nodules, some as large as softballs, showcasing fossilized organisms like sea fans, brachiopods, and crinoids. These nodules create fantastic holds, making it feel like you’re climbing a coral reef.

Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced climber, Buckskin Gulch offers something for everyone. Routes range from 5.5 to 5.11, with several easier climbs in the 5.5-5.7 range and some challenging 5.12 routes for advanced climbers. There are even a few crack climbing lines if you are into the traditional side of the sport. The area is equipped with securely installed anchors, bolts, and chains, ensuring safety and peace of mind. With the expertise of your Sundial guide, you’re guaranteed a safe, fun-filled day of climbing in one of the most unique and beautiful spots in the region.
