Brigham Plains Road Drive Description

Brigham Plains is a remote and rugged 4×4 road located in the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument in Southern Utah. This off-road trail is known for its challenging terrain and stunning vistas, making it a favorite among off-roading enthusiasts looking for an adventurous drive through some of Utah’s most spectacular backcountry. The Brigham Plains 4×4 Road spans approximately 16 miles, winding its way through the rugged landscape of the Kaiparowits Plateau. The road features a mix of sandy stretches, rocky climbs, steep narrow switchbacks, requiring a high-clearance 4WD vehicle or ATV. The trail offers a true backcountry experience, taking drivers through remote desert plains, across dry washes, and along the edges of dramatic cliffs. The road provides access to areas of the monument that are rarely visited, offering a sense of solitude and connection with the wild beauty of Canyon Country Outdoors. This road is considered challenging for 4×4 trucks, with some sections requiring careful navigation and driving skills. Don’t let the small elevation gain fool you, this drive is STEEP! It can become impassable after heavy rain due to deep mud and flash flooding, so it’s essential to check weather conditions before setting out. Due to the remoteness of the area, travelers should be well-prepared, carrying extra water, food, and emergency supplies. A detailed map or GPS is also recommended, as cell service is limited, and the route can be confusing in some sections.
