Directions to the Trailhead
Turn west onto Scenic View Drive, located 1.5 miles (2.4 km) south of the Carl Hayden Visitor Center on Highway 89. Take the first right and park in the lot at the end of the road. There is another access point to Scenic View Drive just south of the Park Service building, half a mile from the Lake Powell Blvd intersection.
If you are coming from Page, be cautious at the intersection of Lake Powell Blvd and Highway 89, as it is extremely dangerous due to oncoming traffic. It may be safer to use the alternative access road near the Park Service building.
Glen Canyon Dam Overlook Trail Description
This short hike leads to a cover ramada with stunning views of Glen Canyon Dam and the Colorado River below. The trail, which traverses sandy sandstone, is not flat, but a handrail is provided to assist through the slippery sections. While this hike is a quick and enjoyable jaunt for the nimble, it may not be suitable for those who are frail or elderly.
