Hanging Gardens Trail Description

The Hanging Gardens provide a quick and easy outing to a wonderfully shady spot tucked under an overhang, just a mile from Page, AZ. The trail is a straightforward 1.2-mile round trip along a well-marked path that leads to a spring supporting a diverse array of plant life, including Maidenhair Ferns, lilies, sedges, and orchids.

A side trail takes you to an overlook at the top of a rounded mesa, offering panoramic views of the canyon, Glen Canyon Dam, Lake Powell, and the town of Page. Accessing the trail requires no National Park fee, and dogs are welcome if kept on a leash.

The Hanging Gardens Trail is safe and manageable, with no drop-offs or significant heights if you stick to the main trail. However, the Overlook Trail, which provides expansive views, features moderate grades, slight height exposure, and uneven ground, so it’s best suited for those comfortable with such conditions.

After your hike, you can drive down the dirt road to the Chains area for a swim in Lake Powell or to embark on the Sentinel Point hike.
