The Monkey Slide is a sweet little spot hidden on the south side of Manson Mesa, just 0.3 miles from the Page Public Library parking lot off of Page Arizona’s Rim Trail. This sandstone slide, created in the late 50’s or early 1960s by adventurous local kids using wheel-less Radio Flyer wagons, metal pieces, and cardboard, has been a source of fun—and minor scrapes—for generations. Over the years, it has provided countless skinned elbows, sandy cracks, and ripped jeans as children enjoyed their days of play. In addition to the slide, the area offers several other interesting features to explore, including an amphitheater, a spire, moqui steps, and soft sand dunes perfect for rolling around. If you want to try the slide, it’s best to pour fresh sand down the trough and slide in your shoes. Be prepared for some balancing and be mindful that the risk of skinning your elbows and ankles is high. There is no designated trail leading to the slide, so you’ll need to navigate the slope on your own. Exercise extreme caution on the slickrock sandstone, as it can be deceptively slippery. What might seem like a manageable grade from the top or bottom can quickly become a challenging situation. #canyoncountryoutdoors #pagearizona #rimtrail #hiking #hikingadventure #grandcircle
